Karly Kirk is keen to secure a second four-year term with Yarriambiack Shire Council
I have nominated in the Warracknabeal Ward of Yarriambiack Shire Council in the upcoming Local Government election in October 2024.
If I am elected, it will be my second term, and it will be an opportunity to put into practice everything I have learned in the last four years.
Joining the council has been one of the best things I have done, but there is so much to learn that it is fair to say that the first term is about learning, and the second term would be the chance to use that knowledge and pass it on to any new councillors.
I am incredibly proud of the council and the work we have done, and I am equally proud of the cohesive group we have been.
As councillors, we have robust discussions, and we sometimes have differing views on the decision.
However, it has never been personal, and we continue to work together with respect for each other and our roles.
I am confident that Yarriambiack Shire is strong and will continue serving the community.
I am incredibly proud of the work we have done in childcare.
Hopetoun lacks childcare, which affects employment. Teachers and people from other professions leave because there is no childcare.
I hope that we'll have an answer on childcare for the Hopetoun community soon.
Housing is a key issue in our Shire, and I will continue to advocate for additional housing.
Our council is financially secure, but there is never enough money to provide everything our community needs, which is my biggest challenge.
I am standing again to be a fair and strong voice for the community. I will continue to advocate for all of our community members and to make it a happy and safe place for families to grow and thrive.
