It was a do-or-die match for the A-grade girls this week if they were to keep their finals chances alive, and the pressure was evident.
It was a very even first quarter, with neither side budging, but patience paid off and JR were able to take an early lead in the first quarter by four goals.
A few things were addressed during the break, and these had a noticeable impact as the girls found a bit of momentum and breathing space going into halftime with an important six goal lead.
JR knew that Pimpinio were not going to let up so they kept the pressure on, playing out a very tense second half.
The importance of the game was definitely playing on JR’s mind as they weren’t playing their usual game, but with this in mind they found a way to a very grinding and important win.
Penny Fisher received the $50 Martion Rural award for a steadying consistent performance, and Bridget Dorrington received the Presh Voucher for a solid game in GK, getting plenty of important rebounds.

The girls came up against the top-of-the-ladder team again, and Pimpinio really showed us why they are there.
We got off to a bit of a slow start, but the girls eventually found a way down court to score some good goals in the first quarter.
In the next two quarters, our girls showed some great fight, finding their feet a bit more, showing some great passages of play and not letting Pimpinio get it all on their terms.
The final quarter saw Pimpinio run away with a very comfortable win, but our girls never gave up and really gave it their all until the final whistle.
The $10 Rainbow IGA voucher went to Addison Fisher who played another consistent game providing our girls with plenty of turnovers and helping out all the way down the court.
Lydia Paech received the Presh Pack - a very quiet achiever just going about her business and playing her role.
