Jess tears course apart

SATURDAY in a stableford event at the Warracknabeal Golf Club, Jake Jess had a day out scoring 42 points off a handicap of seven.
I believe that would possibly be a 73 gross score with 66 net. It was a day for the low handicappers as Dean Gunn (7) had 37 points, another great score. Forgot to mention that Jake had a double bogey six on the last hole.
These two were winners and runner-up in A Grade.
B Grade was won by Scott Stewart (18) with a great score of 39 points with Dennis Murphy (19) having 34 points as runner-up.
Good scores were Ryan Smith, 37 points, Brenton Cheney, 35, Peter Schilling, Mark Krelle and Nathan McLean all on 34 points.
Ladies winner was Corinne Heintz (19) with 37 stableford points with runner-up being Mary Massey on 35 points.
Nearest the pin ninth hole second shot, Chris Surridge; fifth hole, Jake Jess and Mary Massey; seventh hole, Dean Gunn and Karen Germano and the 13th hole, David Baxter (bonus) and Mary Barber.
The best field we have had for a while with 35 men and 10 ladies competing.
The event this week for men is a three man Ambrose.
The Royal Mail Hotel Meal Run last Thursday with 21 men competing was won on the first nine holes by Gary Krahe, with Richard Bett and Stan Ryan who all had 18 points with Gary declared the winner on a countback.
The back nine holes was won by Richie Bett on 21 points followed by Jake Jess on 20 points with Gary Krahe and David Kranz on 19 points each.
Nearest the pin fifth and seventh hole, Mick Cheney, 13th hole, David Kranz.
The best 18 hole score was Richie Bett with 39 points.
Weekly joke
Ryan Smith was down the street the other day and a person came up to him and asked, “where is the local post office here.”
Ryan said, “go down the street and on the next corner look to the left and it will be just on the corner at the end of the block”.
“Thank you,” the stranger said. “I am the new minister in town of the Baptist Church. If you come on Sunday I will show you the way to heaven.”
Ryan said, “Not likely mate, you couldn’t even find your way to the Post Office in our small country town.”
Late note
On Monday night finishing at 8.50pm, the second semi-final of the “posties” event was held with Wayne Dovaston and Alan McLean defeating Greg Pearson and Noel Huebner.
The match was decided on the 20th hole in the dark.
