'It's very exciting': Benbow to lead Hornets men for fourth CBL season
Horsham have two grand final appearances under Scott Benbow.
The Horsham Hornets are sticking with continuity for the 2024 CBL men's season after the club announced the reappointment of Scott Benbow.
It will be Benbow's fourth year in the role.
During Benbow's tenure, the Hornets have been champions, semi-finalists and grand finalists.
"It's very exciting, I love them. It is just an awesome group of young men to be around," Benbow said.
"So we're looking to go one better again with what we think will be a very similar-looking squad."
Only Damien Skurrie (retirement) and Matthew Brown (Army) will not be suiting up this season from last season's squad, whilst Benbow expected to see some new faces at tryouts on Sunday, August 18, and 25.
"I haven't heard that no one is coming back because they didn't love it. I think everyone wants to be a part of it again, which means we're doing something right," he said.
"The juniors will be in their fourth year in the CBL program, too. So it's their time to take on more court time and back up the veterans."
Benbow will also have one of his best mates, Matt Lovel, as his assistant.
"It's consistency of message; this is our fourth year going together. We've worked together for so many years with the juniors," Benbow said.
It's a good link between the under-18 program [that Lovel coaches], bringing them through of the CBL, and we bounce off each other pretty well."
Horsham Amateur Basketball Association president Matt Grace said it was a "no-brainer" for his board to keep the experienced pair at the head of the program.
"To have the success that they've both had over the last four years in that program and the culture and the chemistry that they've built [is important]," Grace said.
"It's one big family, so it's good to have them on board again and try to get back and go one step further this coming season."
