It's a wrap: Christmas, and soon 2024, will be over
A Mum's World: Yolande Grosser reflects on another big year.

That's a wrap! Christmas 2024 has been sung, sold, cooked and eaten - although there's still a lot of baked ham to plough through, obviously.
I'm dripping in gorgeous jewellery, perfume, chocolates and knick-knacks as I drink from my new favourite coffee cup.
It's time to tick over into a new year now and thank goodness we have plans, because it's actually arriving, exactly on time.
2024 has been a whopper for us.
It started with spectacular celebrations for Nan Cynthia's 90th Birthday and was followed by our eldest daughter entering the workforce post university to start supporting herself!
Sadly, we were soon organising Cynthia's funeral and working our way through an ADHD diagnosis for our youngest daughter, which explained many of her life's challenges as she completed Year 12 and was successful in her application for tertiary studies.
Pa went through quite a few health issues amongst the grief, spending quality time at The Alfred with plenty of trips to specialists.
My big brother and I cleaned, mended, mowed and sold mum's rental and finally finished executing her Will 18 months after her passing.
Bun-bun-the-middle-one was baptised and we met her lovely boyfriend, having him visit here for a few days.
Our eldest daughter's workplace offered her a three-week trip overseas in the new year and then someone drove into the back of her car and it looks like it will be written off. She's okay.
There were part-time jobs aplenty for our two youngest daughters, way too many early morning post party pick-ups for me, and the usual number of leaks, mechanical failures and maintenance jobs for my husband to chase around the house.
He finished contract harvesting before Christmas, and on the big day, we had 20 souls in our kitchenwhich was such a blessing.
Now Bun-bun is applying for rental properties with friends and will finish the final year of her degree and my baby will move down to the big smoke to study, leaving my husband and I as empty nesters.
So, I'm taking a bit of a breather for half a day before launching into 2025 but I'm feeling excited about where this family is at as we peel the wrapper of a brand new 'fresh as a daisy' year.
