'It means a lot': Bell blasts century for Brim KSH in HCA round 11
Tim Bell scored 106 runs off 114 balls against Lubeck Murtoa.
Brim KSH batter Tim Bell has scored centuries in the past, but his latest, in round 11 of the HCA A Grade competition on Saturday, January 25, stood out.
Bell scored an up-tempo 106 off 114 balls to leave the Eagles in a strong position after day one against Lubeck Murtoa.
It was Bell's first ton at Brim Rec Reserve, a ground the 43 year-old is familiar with.
"I grew up playing at Kellalac in my junior years with my uncle Rod, he's passed away since," Bell said.
"He was the one that got my into playing cricket."
Despite the individual accolade, Bell was pleased to contribute to the team as the home side were eventually bowled out for 210.
"Anytime you get a few runs is nice. So, it was just my turn to make a few runs on the weekend." he said.
Having had an interrupted season, Bell wasn't expecting too much in his first innings of 2025.
"At training last Thursday I wouldn't have been able to hit the bloody ball off the square. I hadn't had a hit since before Christmas," he said.
But on one of the best wickets Bell has played on into his second year with the club, he made the Mudlarks' bowling attack pay.
"It was actually really good deck to bat on," Bell said.
"The new ball moves around a little bit early, but the wicket flattened out as the day went on."
Brim KSH will look to maintain second place on the two-day ladder with two games remaining in their first season in the competition.
"The early part of the year, I think the guys have adapted really well," Bell said.
"Everybody seems to be enjoying it, and hopefully that'll keep going in the future.
"We've got some quality cricketers in our side, and I think that we could give it a nudge on our day."
