Horsham jockey Dean Yendall dismisses retirement rumors, plans comeback

After a three-month hiatus for hip surgery, Horsham jockey Dean Yendall is ready to return to the racetrack, dismissing any rumors of retirement.
The six-time Group 1 winner has focused on a careful recovery to ensure a strong comeback.
"I would have liked to rush back to ride for spring, but I didn't want to complicate things," he told racing.com on October 27.
"I thought it was in my best interest and my career, to hold off coming back too soon, I've definitely been doing the right things this time. But I'm coming back! Don't worry, I'm coming back."
The Horsham jockey's last ride was on July 6 with five-year-old gelding Semillion, the same event of his won recent win, the 2024 Leilani Series Final with New Zealand 6yo mare Cindy Falls.
Yendall, a veteran of 21,210 rides, said he was feeling better than he has in years.
However, his surgeon David Young told him to relax for another month.
"I'm probably still a few days away from giving it a little test to see how we go," Yendall told racing.com.
"I'm not limping like I used to. I didn't think I had a limp, but a lot of people were saying to me prior to my surgery 'Why are you limping'? And I didn't realise I was actually limping."
Last season Yendall had 449 rides, winning 48 and placing in 112.
