Horsham Hornets dominate Intersport Junior Classic, secure four titles

Horsham has added several pieces of silverware to the trophy cabinet after winning several divisions of its home basketball tournament.
More than 80 teams converged on the Wimmera on November 9 and 10 for the Horsham Intersport Junior Classic Basketball Tournament, including heavyweights Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton and Colac.
The junior Hornets won four tournaments, with two sides going through the weekend undefeated.
The under-18 boys won Division One the hard way, defeating the higher-ranked Colac 44-38 in the semi-final, before winning a thriller against Terang.
The boys were behind 17-15 at halftime, but nine points from Harrison Millar helped them overcome the deficit and win 38-35.
The under-16 girls won the Division One tournament, winning all five games and overpowering Hamilton 28-19 in the grand final.
Lani King scored 49 points across the five games including seven in the grand final.
The under-16 boys also went undefeated during its Division One run, eventually winning the grand final 43-39
Charlie Hobbs starred in the decider, scoring 12 points, while (12 points) and Aiden Reinheimer tallied 58 points across five games.
The under-12 girls won the Division One grand final by the narrowest of margins, defeating Colac 21-20.
The home side's hot 12-7 start gave them a five-point lead at halftime; the Kookas whittled down the buffer with a 13-9 second half, but the young Hornets held on to win by one.
Inversely, the Under-14 girls lost the Division One grand final by the same margin, going down to Hamilton 25-24.
Meanwhile, the under-14 girls missed the Division Two grand final on percentage.
It was a successful weekend for Wimmera teams, with Warracknabeal winning the under-18 boys Division Two final, taking down Colac 31-23, and the under-16 girls Division Two, defeating Maryborough Blazers 28-20.
