Horsham Demons women seniors and under-18s secure massive wins
For the second consecutive match, the Horsham Women's Senior Football Team shut out their opponents in the Western Victoria Female Football League, this time Tyrendarra falling victim to their dominance at Horsham City Oval on Sunday afternoon.
The Demons were relentless early kicking four goals in the first quarter, but it was the second quarter where they blew the game open, kicking seven goals to take a 72-point lead into halftime.
In the second half, they ran out the game strong, kicking a further five goals with the only blemish being 13 behinds.
Alicia Drew kicked four goals with Elle Treloar chipping in with three as they ran out 16.19.115 to 0 winners.
In a show of dominance, they had nine different goal kickers with Patria Lees named best on the ground with Ashlee Ison, Madeleine Huggins and Vanilla Ika also among the best players.
Earlier in the day, the under-18 girls cruised to a massive 72-point win over the Portland Tigers thanks to a five-goal haul from Charmaine Lockwood.
The Demons were sluggish early, kicking two goals in the first quarter, but like the senior women, put the game away in the second quarter, kicking five goals 10 to lead by 53 points at halftime.
With the game dead and buried, the Demons ran it out, adding a further five goals in the second half to win 12.12.84 to 2.0.12.
They had eight different goal kickers in the win with Lara Purchase best on the ground. Greta Arnel, Tayla Hudson, Poppy Peters and Nellie Driller were also among the best players for the Demons.
Portland's goal kickers were Airlie Aldridge and Hanna Whitehead, with their first score coming in the third quarter. Alongside them, Lidia Thomas, Layla Kozareveski and Tayla Convy were among their best players.
In round six, next Sunday, the under-18 girls will play unbeaten team Terang whilst the seniors will play bottom-of-the-table Warrnambool Blues.
