Hopetoun Powerhouse Arts Studio’s art exhibition “A New Start" has been an outlet for many local artists, who have taken the opportunity to display their work.
Members of the Southern Mallee Co-Operative Parish - the Baptist and Uniting Churches of Rainbow and Hopetoun - sponsored the exhibition, with the support of the local community.
Artists from Rainbow, including Phyllis McKenzie, Shirley Newton, Pam Clugston, and Valma Mann, attended the opening last Friday night.
Guests were welcomed by Rev Susan Pearse before the exhibition was officially opened by Yarriambiack Shire councillor Andrew McLean.
Guest artist Robert Allen - a retired senior lecturer in ceramics at the University of Ballarat, and formerly of Hopetoun - spoke about his work and teaching as a form of new starts.
Coordinator Nina Gould thanked those involved in the curation of the exhibition, and made a presentation of some of her fine work, as well as gifts from the Powerhouse Arts Studio.
Guests all appreciated the variety and quality of the work displayed, which reflected the talent in our communities, and visitors have enjoyed the opportunity to sit, share conversation with others, and enjoy the displays over devonshire teas.
