Hefty fines for speedster, 189kph in a 100kph zone, vehicle impounded
Car impounded and hefty fine for Horsham speedster in Wimmera
Victorian Police issued the following statement after they caught a person driving 89 kph over the speed limit.
Police said, "A woman has had her vehicle impounded and will have to face a magistrate after she was caught speeding in Kewell yesterday evening.
"Murtoa police officers detected a Ford Falcon sedan travelling along the Henty Highway about 8.50pm.
"It is alleged the vehicle was detected travelling at 189km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
"The driver, a 25-year-old Horsham woman, had her vehicle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1675.
"She is expected to be charged on summons for dangerous driving and exceeding the speed limit," police said.
Police have continued a heavy presence on the state's roads, including the Wimmera and Grampians regions in an attempt to reduce road crash deaths.
Police urge drivers to observe the speed limits, drive to conditions, maintain attention at all times and be aware of what is happening around you.
