Heavy fog on Monday morning appears to have been a major contributing factor to a collision at the intersection of the Borung and Sunraysia highways, at Litchfield 38 kilometres west of Warracknabeal on Monday morning.
Police believe the collision between a Subaru vehicle heading east over the railway crossing and an unloaded MAN prime mover with semi and dog trailers heading north on the Sunraysia Highway was almost certainly caused by low visibility from a heavy fog at around 8am on Monday morning.
A 30-year-old Meadow Heights woman, driving the Subaru vehicle was taken to Donald hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, while numerous police attended the scene and controlled traffic on the Sunraysia Highway.
Fire brigade members were called to the scene to perform a ‘washaway’ of oil, coolant and debris from the site on the bend of the highway.
The truck driver, a 37-year-old Clyde man, was apparently uninjured.
It is understood damage to the Subaru was extensive, while the condition of the female car driver was unknown at the time of going to press.
The truck ended up bogged and had to be recovered.
