HDFNL premiers crowned: a weekend to remember
Four premiers were decided on North Park's football oval.
What a day! The Horsham District Football and Netball League crowned its premiers for the 2024 season at Stawell's North Park on Saturday, September 14.
Many sides were tested during the grand final with rain, hail, and relentless wind throughout the day.
But in the end, only one team would walk away with the silverware.
Harrow Balmoral made it back-to-back undefeated seasons with a 7.10 (52) - 5.9 (39) victory against Noradjuha Quantong in the seniors.
Laharum went 18-0 in the A Grade netball to cap off a perfect season with a 40-38 win against Rupanyup.
The Demons overcame wild weather in the fourth quarter of the reserves and took a 7.5 (47) - 4.6 (30) win against the Swifts.
Kalkee clinched its fourth straight HDFNL B Grade premiership with a 30-28 win against Natimuk United.
In the minor grades, Natimuk United upset Noradjuha Quantong in the C Grade final, while Kalkee finished on a high, defeating the Bombers.
In the under-17 football, four goals from Pimpinio's Brydon McPhee led his side to a 34-point win.
The under-14 football decider saw Edenhope Apsley defeat Noradjuha Quantong 8.3 (51) - 3.11 (29).
Finally, in netball, Kalkee won the under-13s, Rup was too strong in the 15s, and the Tigers claimed under 17s premiership.
On Sunday, the WFNL preliminary final attracted a massive crowd to Murtoa.
On the footy field, Southern Mallee sealed its grand final berth with a win against Stawell.
The Thunder play Ararat in Dimboola on September 21.
On the netball courts, Horsham booked a rematch against the Saints in the WFNL A grade netball grand final after defeating the Roos.
