HCA under-13s split opening matches of country week campaign in Portland

The Horsham Cricket Association under-13s have had a tight-defeat and a thumping win to open its account at country week in Portland on Monday, January 13.

After being sent into bat by Warrnambool Moyne Gold, the HCA mustered 6/128 from its 25 overs.

Judd Oakley led the way with the bat with 28 runs, while Joel Plazzer was retired on an unbeaten 20.

The game went down to the wire as Warrnambool Moyne passed the target in the last over.

There was six individual wicket-takers for Horsham.

HCA responded in the afternoon with a seven-wicket win against Hamilton Green.

Starting in the field, Horsham ripped through the Hamilton batting order, bowling the opposition out for 51 in the 19th over.

Edward Schorback was the chief destroyer with 3/7.

In reply, Horsham passed the target in the 16th over for the loss of three wickets.

Jack Arnel top-scored with 10, for the HCA.

While Lenny Shurdington made 11 as Horsham batted out their allotted overs.

Te action continues on January 14 as the HCA faces Warrnambool Moyne Blue and South West Gold, respectively.
