Hartigan trains first winner

Local trainer Caitlin Hartigan trained her first winner on Tuesday, February 27 with her dog, Talkin' Bluey saluting in a time of 23.54 from box four over 410m.

Talkin' Bluey, is sired from Raw Ability, a 22-race winner, with the Dam, Kraken Bam Bam, a 10-race winner.

Hartigan's parents, Bill and Helen have been training greyhounds all of her life and Ms Hartigan decided to step out from her parent's shadows to train Talkin' Bluey solo.

When asked why he is called Talkin' Bluey, Ms Hartigan put it simply - it's because he talks.

"If you talk to him he barks so he talks," Ms Hartigan said.

"He is the only dog I have at the moment and I train with my parents on their property in Horsham.

"It feels good to train my first winner, especially in his first race start."

Talkin' Bluey ran his second race on Tuesday, March 5, finishing fourth.
