A spokesperson was unable to confirm numbers, although a figure of 22 had been reported by the ABC.

Chief Operating Officer Ben Kelly said the changes were proposed after consultations with managers before being released to staff for feedback and comment.

“Now we have the opportunity to open up discussion across the workforce,” he said.

The restructure is said to affect the Chief Operating Office.

“We know that change brings challenges, and we are committed to moving through the consultation phase collaboratively and without delay so our staff can return their focus on what they do best: caring for those most in need,” Mr Kelly said.

Grampians Health would not say if the restructure was partly due to budget cuts imposed by the state government, or at what levels of seniority the redundancies may take effect.
