'Good to play at highest level' Dickinson selected in HCA country week squad
West Wimmera's Jobe Dickinson in associations under-17 rep squad.
West Wimmera keeper-batter Jobe Dickinson, is no stranger to country week, but that does not mean he has taken his selection for granted.
The 16-year-old will represent the Horsham Cricket Association for a fifth time after being one of 13 players named in the Horsham Cricket Association's under-17s squad for the carnival to be held in Warrnambool in January, 2025.
"It's always good to plan highest level of cricket you can," Dickinson said.
"It's fun going down to different places and playing different teams."
Despite struggling at the top of the order so far this season, Dickinson is hoping a role change could change his fortunes for the back half of the season.
The right-hander has added 52 runs in seven innings.
"Not having made any runs has been just annoying," he said.
"Hopefully playing a different level and batting at four or five can change it up and [I can] make some runs."
Dickinson is looking forward to wearing the same colours as Homers representatives Harrison Hoffmann and Luke Miller, whilst he also highlighted Rup/Minyip's Hugh Weidemann.
Homers' Phoenix Hopper joins the quartet in being selected in the Western Waves' under-16 male squad.
"It's just good to be recognised like that," Dickinson said.
HCA under-17s country week squad
Dezi Carter, Jack Combe, Jaxon Crooks, Jobe Dickinson, Harrison Hoffmann, Matthew Kerr, Harry Millar, Luke Miller, Jarvis Mitchell, Oliver Potter, Archie Sostheim, Hugh Weidemann, Zac van Buuren.
Horsham will compete against teams from Warrnambool, Hamilton, Portland and Wimmera/Mallee from January 6-11.
