Good Friday on the way
THE Good Friday Appeal in Dimboola has kicked off in earnest this week, with raffle tickets being sold at the IGA and Bendigo Bank (and in front of the shire hall on Friday), with some excellent prizes on offer.
First prize is a doona cover from Forty Winks, valued at $400, and second prize is accommodation at Whispering Pines, valued at $200.
Third is a necklace from Mackay ($150 value), with fourth and fifth hampers from Royal Children's Hospital and Celebrations Horsham, respectively.
The raffle is just one signal in the lead-up to this Friday morning’s event at the Recreation Reserve.
Children will be catered for in several ways, starting with an Easter Egg hunt, jumping castle, face painting and tiny goats to check out.
There will be toasties for sale, Southern Hot Dogs, poke bowls and coffee – the Lions Club will have hot cross buns, and Bendigo Bank will be dishing out lollies and eggs too.
Those with a taste for soft serve will have to check out Sugar Baby from Big Bertha – if you missed the recent launch of the mobile creamy ice cream trailer, create your own dessert masterpiece with over 20 toppings and enjoy – 20 per cent of all ice cream sales will go to the appeal.
Also find the gold rocks, guess the lollies, check out the craft table and emergency vehicles on display, and listen to live music and DJ Bunga.
Another raffle will be on offer on Friday too, with great prizes including a big-screen TV, a children’s bike, and lots more.
Supported by the Bendigo Bank, the Dimboola Lions Club, CFA, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police and SES, the event will be at the Dimboola Recreation Reserve A&P shed from 9am on Friday, April 3, to raise much-needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital – the egg hunt will be $5 per child.
