The Warracknabeal Eagles, our closest rivals and amazing friends.
The matches were highly competitive and tightly contested in Hopetoun on Saturday. Chris Scott, Geelong Cats’ coach, spoke about the belief he has in his players after their win against the Bulldogs at the weekend.
Belief is trust, faith and confidence in someone or something.
He was excited, positive and optimistic about his A grade players who didn’t know how good they were or what they could become.
We too at the Giants have reason to believe in our girls:
We believe in the A grade and what they are doing. They notched up their second win of the season.
This team is made up of a superstar, seasoned performers, work horses and youth. Like Chris Scott, Jodie and Steph have much to be excited about.
We believe that the B Grade and Under 13 teams will break through before the end of the season for an elusive win.
We believe in our coaches, Jaimee and Jayne, who will guide our girls to that success that is in arm’s reach.
We believe in Bridget Williams, our netball director, who stepped up to umpire B Grade on Saturday at the last minute.
Steph Riggall, our academy umpire was scheduled to umpire, however she sustained an injury in the previous game. Our belief in Bridget is unwavering, there is nothing this girl can’t do.
We believe that the Under 15’s and C Grade will win some more games before the end of the season. Let’s go JJ, coaches Jayne and Jonti.
After much whinging and moaning about the lack of rain, we do believe that we are going to get some decent rainfall this week to really kickstart the growing season.
[CROSSHEAD]Net Set Go
We came up against a tall team in the Warracknabeal Eagles at the weekend. The girls had a great game, participating in six quarters.
Rachael and Kim do a wonderful job, sorting out sides.
The girls worked well together, taking on whatever position was thrown at them by the coaches.
There were many excellent passages of play throughout the entire match.

[CROSSHEAD]Under 13s
A tight contest against the Eagles. The game swayed both ways over the four quarters.
The girls went down by two goals and look forward to their rematch. Lexie, Leah and Ava are really settling into their shooter positions.
Positioning well and using their feeders to get the best opportunities close to the ring.
Our short but deft mid court of Lily, Bianca, Dakota and Pippa are working on when to lead and clear the space.
When it comes together, there are some lovely passages of play down to the attacking end of the court.
Luca and Olivia are pairing nicely in defence.
Olivia providing great support down the defence end to connect to attack, while Luca’s defensive coverage over the court is impressive.

Under 15’s
It was always going to be a tough game against a strong Eagles outfit.
The girls went down but there were small wins over the four quarters. Elsa, Issy and Scarlett had their work cut out for them in defence but worked hard on their rebounding and intercepts.
Lana is a great utility, thrown from defence to attack, she doesn’t miss a beat.
Coco and Matilda worked hard all game in hot, Winter weather against multiple opponents.
The grit they display week in, week out is terrific. Belle and Rachael continue to work and improve on their positioning, rebounding and passing in the shooter’s ring.
Confidence on the rise with every game.

[CROSSHEAD]A Grade
With Warrack Eagles hungry for a win, the Giants knew it was going to be a tough run.
The Giants kept up and were on top by three at quarter time. The second quarter was challenging with the Winter sunshine.
Tia Credlin and Steph Thomson were shooting brilliantly. The Giants had most of the ball and controlled it well.
At halftime, the Giants were leading by four goals. With the Eagles not giving up, the Giants extended their lead to eight in the third quarter.
Jodie Hayes was an absolute force in the mid court, ensuring level heads and calm play.
Taya Horman came out firing in the last quarter with an instant intercept.
The Giants worked well together to get the win.

[CROSSHEAD]B Grade
A tough game with plenty of physicality and rivalry.
Great talk in the first quarter, down by two. The first half was well controlled, five goals down at the end of the second quarter.
In the heat of the day, the third quarter blew out. Our defences in Seisha, Keeta and Jaida worked overtime.
Unfortunately, their turnovers couldn’t be converted to goals. Jaimee got her hands to a lot of the ball down the court.
Kate, Kim and Bridie gave it their all. Issy and Jonti stood tall against a physical defence.
Final Score: Warracknabeal 43 Giants 30

[CROSSHEAD]C Grade
The C grade girls were expecting a tough matchup against an Eagles’ side hungry for a win.
After last week’s loss by the narrowest of margins, the Giants were raring to go.
It was a tight game, with a high turnover rate at both ends, testing the endurance of the mid court girls in very sunny conditions.
A couple of players stepped into new positions on court and rose brilliantly to the challenge.
Chloe White put up a fantastic defensive display as Goalkeeper, while Macey Huf and Amanda Marshman were both fundamental down the attacking end.
A huge effort from the entire team this week.
