Garden Club in bloom for 100 years

The Warracknabeal Garden Club’s August 7 meeting was abuzz with talk of the upcoming centenary celebrations, which will be held this year on September 17.
Club president Denise Inkster welcomed the 13 attending members, who proceeded to excitedly prepare for the 100th birthday celebrations.
Both Md Inkster and club secretary Robyn Goodwin have spent many hours looking through boxes of memorabilia and articles of the Warracknabeal Garden Club, which have been carefully kept by Joy Mayberry over the years.
Lots of discussions followed regarding the format for the special celebration, before the members took a break for afternoon tea, which was enjoyed by all.
The winners of the competitions were Rose - Victoria Park, Single Bloom - Barbara Morrow, Multibloom - Lyn Carmichael, Native - Barbara, Fruit/Vegetable - Lyn.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, September 4 at the Senior Citizen clubrooms.
