Garage sale success
More than 50 people turned out for a garage sale at Kayotic Cactus on March 1, with shoppers snapping up a wide range of new and excess stock.
Organiser Kay Ellis said the sale was a strong success.
“The garage sale went well, and we moved quite a lot of items,” she said.
The sale featured plant nursery products, shoe insoles, wrist, ankle, and knee supports, car fuel care items, hardware, bags, belts, skincare, candle holders, ornamental giftware, stationery, and arts and crafts supplies.
Ms Ellis said some products proved especially popular with shoppers.
“The most popular items were plant nursery products, inner soles, limb supports and ornamental gifts,” she said.
She said the sale attracted not only local residents but also visitors from nearby areas and holidaymakers spending the long weekend in town.
“Apart from locals, a few from surrounding towns also came, as well as people who were staying the long weekend in town,” she said.
Ms Ellis said one of the best parts of the day was connecting with the community.
“Meeting and talking to a variety of people, and people who were happy to find something they wanted or needed, was a highlight,” she said.
She said the idea for the sale grew from a practical opportunity.
“The garage sale came about through a few friends who had businesses that closed and had excess stock stored,” she said.
“Having a large shed at the rear of my shop on a main road seemed a good location.”
About six people helped run the event, and Ms Ellis said another sale was already being planned.
“We will be running another sale over Easter with more stock, new and used products,” she said.
