First truck show a hit
The first Driller Transport Horsham Truck Show was a big success with 138 trucks entering through the gates of the Horsham Showgrounds throughout the two-day event, held last weekend on November 2 and 3.
Run by Blue Ribbon Raceway, 98 trucks of all shapes and sizes were judged over the two days, across 21 categories.
Organiser Stephen Carman said the event went really well with 3,000 people attending over the two-day event.
"We've had lots of positive feedback," he said.
"I'm over the moon and I can't thank everyone enough."
Mr Carman was the driving force behind the event with his interest in trucks
"I've been to others around Victoria and thought Horsham was missing it," he said.
The Sunday morning truck convoy saw 63 trucks travel down Natimuk Road, where they made their way to the Horsham Showgrounds, as they raised money for Wimmera Against Cancer in Kids (WACK).
With each participating truck owner paying $10 per vehicle, the convoy raised $630 for the charity.
"A few donations were also made throughout the weekend," Mr Carman said.
Including the other donations to the charity, the total amount donated to WACK was $860.
Allen Webster, Don Costa and The Austins kept attendees entertained with their live music performances.
A variety of food trucks and stall holders were also on site for people to peruse.
Rig of the show was taken out by Warracknabeal's Wilken family with their 1988 Superliner, 'Captain Cook' who also won the best restored/show open category and best on ground on Saturday.
People's choice was awarded to Whitehaul's 2022 Kenworth RLW909.
