First business expo a success
West Vic Business and Yarriambiack Shire Council partnered together to provide rural business owners with resources, knowledge and the opportunity to make new connections at the inaugural Yarriambiack Business Expo held at Warracknabeal Town Hall.
Over 60 people attended the event, networking and hearing from industry experts and community leaders from across the region.
Yarriambiack Shire Council mayor Kylie Zanker opened the event with a warm welcome, which was followed by Victorian Small Business Commissioner Lynda McAlary-Smith.
"It was exciting to see this initiative so well attended by small businesses across the shire," Cr Zanker said.
"I’m thrilled that it has already inspired some of our businesses in attendance to generate new ideas for growing their business and contributing to the local economy."
Guest speakers from Donald Mineral Sands, Spark Strategy, the Telstra regional team, WSM Rural Finance Counselling Service, EA for a Day and the Dimboola Imaginarium also addressed attendees where they all focused on different topics surrounding rural business.
West Vic Business Yarriambiack was officially launched at the event by chairperson Mark Clyne.
West Vic Business ambassador Stacey Taig said it was a great day.
"More people than we anticipated came," she said.
The General Store in Warracknabeal catered for the event and complimentary coffee was available from Guy's Coffee trailer, organised by Donald Mineral Sands.
Ms Taig said the event was an opportunity not only to launch West Vic Business Yarriambiack, but to stimulate new ideas with business owners throughout the region.
"It was to inspire them to take their business in a new direction," she said.
"West Vic Business aims to ensure that they have the same opportunities as they would in bigger towns such as Horsham."
