In 2024 Ms Thomson completed a remarkable 50th year of service at Wimmera Base Hospital.
On Tuesday, Grampians Health (GH) Horsham celebrated the dedication and commitment of staff including Ms Thomson, as well as community members.
About 154 staff members who had chalked up 10 or more years as GH employees in 2023 or 2024 were honoured at the event.
GH CEO Dale Fraser and members of the executive team and management board visited GH Horsham to witness the award presentations.
Recognising Ms Thomson was the highlight of the ceremony.
"Throughout her time at GH Horsham, Jenny's unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care and her leadership in the operating suite have made her an invaluable asset to both her team and the community," Mr Fraser said.
Anne Launer, Helen Batty, Susan Burns, Helen Greig and Frank Marklew were honoured for
completing 45 years or more of service in Horsham, and Jillian Roberts, Krystyna Wesolek, Maree Markby and Leonie Hoskins were awarded for 40 years with the organisation.
Mr Fraser presented the service awards, expressing admiration and gratitude on behalf of the
organisation.
“These individuals have dedicated their lives to the care and health of others, which is already a noteworthy path,” he said.
“It takes a great deal of character to remain with one organisation, growing and adapting over
many years.
"It’s a credit to these staff but also to the culture they’ve helped create.
"Our Horsham community is in experienced and capable hands.”
GH also presented its life governor award, which is bestowed on staff members, remarkable volunteers, donors and consumer representatives who have demonstrated outstanding commitment, dedication and support to the organisation.
Life governors awards went to Dale Russell, a founding member of the Horsham branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation, and Ann Stevens, vice-president and a long-serving member of the Wimmera Base Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer with the WHCG Friends of the Foundation.
"Staff members Maree Markby and Leonie Hoskins were also appointed as life governors, recognising their incredible contributions to GH," Mr Fraser said.
