Nine community groups across the Wimmera have received more than $82,000 in grants to support small to mid-scale projects, including the Dimboola Town Advisory Committee.
The committee has received $10,000 for the 2023 Wimmera Steampunk Festival, as it will strengthen and enhance the economic and cultural recovery from the Covid pandemic through its community festival.
Other local Wimmera organisations who have received funding from this program are:
- Horsham's Patch Community Garden has been awarded $10,000 for a rotunda to shelter their volunteers.
- Laharum's Public Hall was granted $3500 for the Little Halls Festival.
- A community-owned building's salt-damaged wall will be repaired as part of a $10,000 grant given to Minyip Progress Association.
- Destination Rupanyup Incorporated was awarded $10,000 for the Silo Art Trail Festival.
- The Easter in the Beal programme in Warracknabeal has been awarded $10,000 to expand the event.
- Boort's Resource and Information Centrehas received $9090 for its Boort and Meat program, bringing people together at a free, community meal.
- Grampians Health Edenhope was awarded $9975 to develop an Essential Aids and Equipment Loan Service.
- Donald 2000 Inc has been awarded $10,000 for Donald Social Housing Strategy Plan.
The Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR) was awarded a total of $2.3 million in grants to 176 community projects across remote, rural and regional Australia.
The grants are under the Strengthening Rural Communities program, with the initiative divided into three streams: Small and Vital, Prepare and Recover, and Rebuilding Regional Communities, which promotes recovery from Covid.
