Many children and families took advantage of the pre-school holiday delivery of fish to Rainbow Lake and tried their luck bagging some dinner.
Archie Roberts reported over 12 fish caught during the school holidays, allowing his cousin to be photographed with two of them before their Pa came to collect them.
The Rainbow Trout are reported to be quick to strike, especially using orange Gulp! "floating salmon eggs" bait, and easy to land, even for children.
They are the perfect size for eating, and are said to be delicious when cooked simply in foil with a bit of garlic butter or lemon.
The Fisheries Victoria Authority introduced ready-to-catch trout to waterways throughout the state, including 400 to Rainbow Lake and 200 to Turkey Bottom Lake.
They plan to restock both lakes in the weeks prior to the September school holidays to encourage more students to get out and have a go.
