End of an era for Jenny Thomson
After nearly 15 years serving the Horsham community, Horsham Undercover will close for the last time on Tuesday, June 23.
For local women, the Firebrace Street business has been more than just a retail store.
It has been known for its personalised service and professional bra fittings, along with its carefully selected range of quality garments and lingerie brands.
There's a saying: From little things, big things grow, and it was certainly the case for Horsham Undercover owner, Jenny Thomson.
Jenny originally worked for a friend in retail, and the business was put up for sale by Bernadette Lakin.
She saw it as an opportunity to open her own retail store and, with a strong interest in helping women feel comfortable and fashionable, she jumped at it.
Jenny is grateful to Bernadette for giving her a start and for sharing her knowledge and advice as she took over the business.
The proud proprietor would like to thank the customers and friends who have supported the business over the years.
She said the friendships formed and the community's support have meant a lot to her throughout the journey.
Jenny has always prided herself on making people feel welcome and learning about her customers and their lives.
As Jenny's daughter Steph explained, she also loved chatting to people.
"Which was extremely obvious if you know Mum," laughed Steph.
In particular, Jenny found it rewarding to assist people who needed a prosthesis after experiencing breast cancer with her in-store range.
"But over the last year or so, mum has been experiencing some health issues, and now is the right time to close the shop," Steph said.
In retirement, Jenny plans to spend plenty of time with her husband, Brian, and make memories with her children/grandkids.
She'll also be looking to indulge in a holiday here and there.
With the closure happening in less than a month, Jenny said she would love to see community members come in store to celebrate the end of the era for the business and catch up one last time.
