Elderly driver escapes with minor injuries following Dooen Road collision

Family member calls emergency services after Dooen Road crash.

An elderly man sustained minor injuries after his vehicle veered off Dooen Road near Horsham and collided with a tree.

Senior Constable Anthony Zivkovic said the driver was travelling north on Dooen Road with a family member following.

"The single occupant of the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree," Snr Sgt Zivkovic said.

"The family member was travelling behind the man pulled over and immediately called emergency services."

Snr Sgt Zivkovic said the man was taken to the Wimmera Base Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.

An ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the man in his 70s was treated for lower body injuries.

Meanwhile, Horsham Police continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following erratic driving on the Western Highway near Horsham on November 7.

"It is understood a Mazda CX9 was observed driving erratically between Dadswells Bridge and Horsham, between 2.30-3.15pm," a spokesperson said.
