Easson thriving in Laharum's new environment
Laharum midfielder Daniel Easson is having a stellar season after moving back to the club in 2024.
The 28-year-old played in Laharum's 2013 premiership win and 2014 grand final loss before moving to Melbourne to study Economics at University where he followed his friend, Keegan Mason to the Monash Blues in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).
From 2015 to 2023, Easson played in the midfield and had success at the club, winning two best and fairests, in 2021 and 2023, and tasted premiership success in 2022.
When LFNC approached Easson to come back to the club for the 2024 season, he didn't have a second thought.
"It has been on the cards to come back home for a while now and I have good mates who are playing at the club, so I thought it was my time to come home," Easson said.
"Current coaches Shan Argall and Robbie Miller, as well as president Hamish Roberts, were my premiership teammates in 2013 and to play alongside them again was appealing."
Laharum didn't win a game last year and are currently fifth spot on the ladder and barring any disasters, are set to play finals. Easson is not surprised by their performance this season.
"Since I have been back around the club, the energy has been terrific and it feels like the environment we had when we were a powerhouse 10 years ago," Easson said.
"The amount of time Hamish Roberts has put into the football club and the energy he brings has been quite inspirational and one of the reasons I came back.
"Robbie and Shan are good mates, gun footballers and more importantly great people and I think the energy around the club has been fantastic, especially with the netball also being strong.
"It's great to be involved with the footy club and there is a lot of improving to do, but the on-field performances have been good and the environment off the field is fantastic."
Easson has kicked seven goals in eight games through the midfield and has been consistently among their best in those eight games.
He has been content with his performance.
"I feel like both myself and the team have a lot to improve on," Easson said.
"There are a lot of guys at the football club who I haven't played a lot of football with and we are getting comfortable each week."
"I have a license to run around and do my thing and Robbie has been a massive influence on me as he is one of the most competitive people I have played alongside with and he drives me to do better."
"Shan's general leadership and care for the group shines through and not only helps me to be the best I can be but also the team."
