ST MARYS and Warrack Eagles hosted their annual social T20 cricket match at Anzac Park on Sunday.
The annual match, in its fifth season, was played in warm conditions with a good turnout of players taking the field for plenty of laughs and entertainment.
Warrack Eagles took the crease first and put together an imposing score of 218 with Kyle Cheney making a top score of 62, while coach Danny Bell made 52 and Ryan McKenzie, after surviving a “not out first ball rule” went on to contribute 41 runs to the total.
In reply, St Marys made a strong start through opener Kael Zanker who made a top score of 39, while Will Batson made 28 and Bailey Watts made 14 in an unbeaten partnership as the Saints finished its innings on 176.
The day rounded a full weekend of action which included the Saints hosting Southern Mallee Giants in round nine of the Wimmera Mallee Cricket Association B Grade and a first training run for the Warrack Eagles on Saturday morning.
St Marys club secretary Callum Zanker said the day was well represented with players from both teams putting on an entertaining display with both bat and ball.
“The day was another success with players from both sides making the most of the occasion with plenty of fun had by all,” he said.
“This is the fifth year and it continues to entertain with plenty of fun in a relaxed social atmosphere.”
