Eagles look for back to back wins
Flying high after downing one of the best sides in the competition this season, the Eagles will this week face Nhill in the eighth round of the Wimmera Football Netball League.
Before the bye for midseason, the Eagles got the four points over the Thunder, in what was the club's third victory for 2026.
Coach of Warrack, Kyle George, said his side can carry a bit of belief and confidence into their clash against fifth-placed Nhill this Saturday, despite the Eagles being one ladder position behind their opposition this week.
With both sides having a record of 3-3 this season, the Eagles have claimed wins over the Demons, Dimboola, and, as mentioned, the Thunder, while the Tigers have got the points over the Burras, Dimboola, and the Thunder.
George said while it was a good win in the last round against the Thunder, the Eagles will not be taking Nhill lightly this week.
But asked if it was their belief that given they play their best footy for four quarters, George said it was, “absolutely, 100 per cent”.
"At our best, we need to think we can beat anyone," confirmed George.
He also admitted he wasn't certain on what brand of footy and strengths Nhill would bring to the park this Saturday, but said he anticipates the contest would be physical.
But one thing George is clear on is what his side will need to do if they are to get the victory, and in particular what they need to carry over from their last win, into this week.
"We need effort throughout the four quarters," he said.
"Being able to shut the game down if Nhill gets a run on, but then pushing on if we get the jump."
The group will be buoyed by the fact that if they can get the four points this week, they will break into the first five on the ladder.
And although the coach admitted it's still early in the season, he said it'd be great for the club in general if they can nudge their way into the first half of the ladder.
