Dressed to impress: surviving the first 'serious boyfriend' staycation
Yolande Grosser's daughter brings home a beau to meet the family.

My development as a parent continues to surprise me, as I'm amazed by how I respond to new challenges. It's been a big week for this little mother of three.
I've just survived my first 'serious boyfriend' staycation at my home!
Yes, that sentence probably did demand quite a few more exclamation marks at the end of it - but I didn't want to be too dramatic, even though I feel it.
I have to admit that I kind of loved saying, "Yes, of course he can stay! You know it will have to be in separate bedrooms."
It didn't need to be said, but it made me feel so grown up and responsible.
Bun-bun the middle one's boyfriend is absolutely beautiful, and I feel as though he's part of the family already.
So, too bad if he didn't like what he saw around here, because I've pencilled him in for the rest of our lives.
The happy couple arrived home from the big smoke on the night of Carols by Candlelight, and because I had emceed, I was looking my absolute best.
After the event, we sipped wine in the kitchen and delved into a bowl of fancy chocolates.
The next night, after a day at work and a meeting in the evening, I still tried to impress by tossing a salad and carving some ham off the bone for dinner.
I stayed fully dressed and made up until retiring for the night.
Evening three saw me hitting the heights as a hostess by serving steak and cheesecake, but I did pop my pjs on to watch some telly, wearing one of Kym's shirts over the top to keep it nice - Kym was on the header throughout.
By midweek, I was running out of energy to impress.
I took the young loves out to lunch and simply collapsed in a heap all evening, appearing in my pyjamas to recline in the lounge room watching old movies until Kym came home off the header.
The end of the week saw me reach the completion of my efforts to astonish; I could be found wrapped in my dressing gown, feet up on the coffee table, scrubbed face, stuffing myself with cold pizza, relaxed.
Welcome to the family young man.
