Ditching doom scrolling for a better morning routine
Tips to break free from doom-scrolling habits.

If you are anything like me, the first thing you do after hitting snooze on your alarm is to open your phone.
I've developed a dirty little habit of checking my emails and socials for a dopamine hit.
Sometimes, I'll check my bank balance to see if anyone deposited a large sum overnight. Nothing yet.
Lately, the news feeds have frustrated me. Instead of a little jolt of enthusiasm, I'm left with a sense of dread.

Instead of doom scrolling, I will get up and do something for myself.
If the weather is nice, I'll make a pot of coffee and sit in the sun. I might have a one-sided conversion with the juvenile magpies that hang around the back porch.
Doing something tangible, like a small walk or cooking breakfast, gives you a sense of achievement. Plus, it's a much calmer way to start the day than war, politics and superfluous gossip.
I might even enjoy it.
