Discounts galore: Wimmera retailers revved up for annual Black Friday Sale

Horsham's central business district is set to become a hive of activity this week thanks to the annual Black Friday Sale.
A worldwide phenomenon, Black Friday will see businesses offer eye-catching discounts to shoppers.
To help you plan out your local shopping, The Wimmera Mail-Times is publishing a special 20-page wrap-around on Friday, November 29.
From footwear to furniture and clothing to car accessories, there is guaranteed to be something for everyone.
Matt Latus of Firebrace Street business Latus Jewellers said the Black Friday Sales are growing in importance for local shoppers.
"Traditionally, Black Friday symbolises the start of Christmas," he said.
"In Australia, it's almost as big as the Boxing Day Sales.
"It will be good to see people out and about on Friday."
The Horsham Rural City Council is encouraging shoppers to linger a little longer with free parking in the CBD from 9am to 5pm.
HRCC interim chief executive Craig Niemann said the sales are the perfect chance to "support our local economy" and kick off the festive season.
"We are delighted to support local businesses and encourage locals and visitors to explore the fantastic range of shops and take advantage of the great deals on offer," he said.
"This Black Friday, we encourage everyone to explore the variety of stores and discover the hidden gems within our community."
The sale blitz is an important event for retailers following a challenging year in the sector, Retailers Association Chief Industry Officer Fleur Brown said.
"Our research shows that one in four shoppers will be using this sales event to save money on gifts, highlighting that while Australians are being more cautious with their spending, they also want to embrace the festive season and spoil their loved ones," Ms Brown said.
"There's no doubt that Black Friday/Cyber Monday will be an integral part of this year's six-week peak season trading period where retailers look forward to making up to two thirds of their annual profit."
