Dinosaurs comes to Horsham
Shoppers at Horsham Plaza have had the opportunity to explore fossils, stuffed animals and rare-collection objects this week with Museums Victoria's Museum in a Van visiting for the school holidays.
Set up on tables outside of Kmart, the pop-up museum attracted people of all ages to admire the preserved bones and creatures.
The hands-on display included a life-sized Muttaburrasaurus skull, Diprotodon and Megalodon teeth, and taxidermied animals including a koala, a platypus, an echidna and a snake.
Children were able to colour in their own bat headband and museum pages.
Museums Victoria's outreach program allows regional communities to experience the wonders of science and nature by providing access to collections without people needing to travel for hours.
Outreach learning facilitator Madeleine Gosden said this was not the museum's first visit to Horsham.
"We have a really good relationship with Horsham Plaza and they were happy to have us back," Ms Gosden said.
"We know not everyone can make it to the museum, and there's something here for everybody of all ages.
"It's a great opportunity for people to engage with these resources."
Ms Gosden said they would tour other parts of Victoria as well.
