Both sides would have liked to have kicked off their 2026 campaign in better fashion, with Dimboola currently last, yet to win after a couple of games, and the Horsham side in seventh, with a win and a couple of losses.

The Demons got a win over Minyip Murtoa in the first round, 12.14 (86) to 12.12 (84), before consecutive losses against the Saints, 5.2 (32) to 16.13 (109), and Stawell, 6.3 (39) to 14.17 (101).

Dimboola have dropped both of their games, against Ararat 4.1 (25) to 28.13 (181) and Warrack 2.4 (16) to 27.18 (180).

Despite a couple of big losses to start 2026, Moore said they needed to stay positive, and he credited his side for doing that.

"We get along well, but that connection: how can we do that in a competitive game sense?" he said.

"We need to make sure they hate losing a contest, not in the way of results.

"Most players have 50, 60, 100 contests every game, so there are many opportunities to assert yourself by nullifying or winning that contest."

The Horsham side has had one win this season and a couple of losses.

But Moore said the focus was more on his own side rather than the opposition team.

"It's about ourselves, and it begins with that element of pressure," Moore said.

"We're aware of where the Demons are at as well, based on even last year's results.

"But for us, it's another great opportunity to go out and improve as a team and do our best for the club.

"That's breaking those things down around pressure and sustaining that the entire game.

"We hope we can make those improvements we want to see."
