Dimboola: a lovely place to visit

On April 20, eleven members of Beulah's Country Women's Association travelled to Dimboola for a day out, and they have shared their report.
Our first stop was the Arkona Silo Art which is very unique. The painting is tennis-themed and the person is Arkona's local legend Roley Klinge, who passed away in 1991.
Seeing as the artist Smug did not get to meet Roley and only had a photo, he decided to not paint his body, but did paint his iconic terry-towelling hat and glasses.
Our next stop was Loch Iel (Pink Lake) Lake Reserve. It wasn’t very pink but the fluffy clouds looked amazing in the reflection on the water.
Next we visited the Wimmera Native Nursery, where two of the friendly and helpful ladies who work there gave us a little bit of history on the Nursery.
They stock a wide range of native and exotic plants, as well as pretty much everything you need for your garden. Quite a few of our ladies stocked up on plants.
We also visited the Dimboola Music Museum which opened on April 23 2022.
The owner, musician Ian Lehmann, gave us a tour around.
He has an extensive collection of all different kinds of musical instruments filling several rooms along with other music memorabilia.
There is a full brass band set up with mannequins, different kinds of ornate pedal organs, bagpipes and records.
Ian’s grandmother Rosina Clark had the building built in 1925 and owned it for about two years. It was called Mrs Clark’s Victoria Coffee Palace, and there was also a boarding house on the property.
From there we went to Oma’s Cafe which has a Dutch theme and menu.
They have been open for seven months and are trying to keep their prices low so everyone can eat out once in a while.
The ladies were really friendly and the food was tasty.
Up next was to the Dimboola Imaginarium.
What an amazing place it is; there are a variety of eclectic gifts to buy.
We perused around in awe of such a unique and magical place.
One of the owners and Steampunk Festival organisers Chan Uoy kindly showed us the newest room to be finished in the building, and the beautiful colourful mural in the hallway near the stairs.
Chan was very helpful and friendly.
Afterwards we had a bit of a wander around the different stores in town and met up at the park behind the library for afternoon tea, which Valda Hunter kindly provided for us.
Valda also organised our day - she used to be a Dimboola girl so is very familiar with the area. Thank you very much Valda for making our day a memorable one. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
