WWHS has unveiled its new digital x-ray machine.

Thanks to overwhelming support from the communities it serves, West Wimmera Health Service has begun using its new x-ray machine.

The new digital device offers shorter exposure times, more accurate imaging, faster examination and reduced radiation dose.

“This critical piece of equipment enables our radiology department in Nhill to provide timely and effective general x-ray services in our region, close to home,” West Wimmera Health Service CEO Ritchie Dodds said.

“The enormous generosity of our community right across the nine towns we service, making donations and helping us raise funds, has meant we have been able to make this necessary and beneficial purchase.”

Buying and installing the new machine was an investment of more than $250,000.

“We’re committed to embracing new technologies and evolving with the times to ensure we're able to offer world-class rural healthcare,” Mr Dodds said.
