Demons women unstoppable in Cavendish
The Horsham Demons Women's senior team delivered a stunning performance against Cavendish over the weekend, securing a commanding victory by an impressive 195-point margin in their round four clash in the Western Victoria Female Football League.
Led by standout player Elle Treloar, who kicked six goals, and supported by Shannon Cross and Crystal Summers, each contributing four goals, the Demons showcased their dominance with a total of 12 goal kickers, culminating in a remarkable final score of 28.27.195 to 0.
From the onset, the Demons demonstrated their prowess, scoring eight goals in both the first and second quarters, followed by six goals in the third and fourth quarters, illustrating a consistent and relentless performance throughout the match.
Key players Tatiarna Nelson, Patria Lees, Madeliene Huggins, and Holly Smith exhibited exceptional skills across the ground, further solidifying the Demons' dominance.
Despite Cavendish's efforts, with notable performances from Stephanie Ganziera and Laura Downes, they were unable to contend with the Demons' formidable display.
In addition to the senior team's triumph, the Demons' under-18 side also emerged victorious, albeit in a closer contest, clinching an 11-point win.
After trailing by 13 points at quarter time, the Demons fought back to narrow the gap to six points by halftime. A decisive two-goal to zero third quarter propelled them to an 11-point lead, which they maintained until the final whistle, securing victory with a final score of 8.12.60 to 7.7.49.
Violet McGennisken emerged as a standout performer for the Demons, notching four goals, while Lara Purchase contributed two goals. Poppy Peters, Tayla Hudson, Nellie Driller, and Charmaine Lockwood were also instrumental in the team's success.
Looking ahead, the Demons are set to host Portland in round five on Sunday, May 19, with the seniors preparing to face Tyrendarra in what promises to be another exciting encounter.
