Demons stunning display hands Roosters first loss

The Horsham Demons Women's Football Team has produced a stunning display to hand ladder leaders South Warrnambool their first loss in round eight of the Western Victoria Football Netball League.

In a fiercely contested match at Friendlies Oval in Warrnambool, the Demons emerged victorious, defeating the Roosters by 17 points.

Demonstrating exceptional defensive strength, the Demons managed to kick three goals while preventing the home side from scoring any, clinching the win with a final score of 3.5.23 to 0.6.6.

The game was a defensive showdown from the outset, with both teams struggling to find scoring opportunities. The Demons led by two behinds at the end of the first quarter, reflecting the tight nature of the contest.

Tatiana Nelson, Holly Nuske, and Elle Treloar were the standout goalkickers for the Demons, each contributing a crucial goal. Crystal Summers, Patria Lees, Shannon Cross, Madison Churchill, and Delli Brown were among the best players.

Despite their efforts, the Roosters could not penetrate the Demons' defense. Lucy Jones, Hannah Rooke, and Lanie Wilson were the top performers for the home side, battling hard in a tough game but unable to secure a breakthrough.

Earlier in the day, the under-18s match saw a different outcome, with the young Demons falling to the Roosters by 43 points.

Scarlett Abbott scored the sole goal for the Demons, who fought valiantly but ultimately lost 7.11.53 to 1.4.10.

Charmaine Lockwood, Lara Purchase, Amaya Woodward, Lucinda Ferguson, and Poppy Peters were commendable in their efforts, delivering notable performances despite the loss.
