Horsham Demons secured their second win of the season with a convincing 56 point win over the Warack Eagles at Anzac Park in Round 15 of the Wimmera Football Netball League.
The Demons were relentless early on kicking seven goals to nil in the opening quarter. The Eagles fought hard in the next two quarters but the Demons ran out the game 14.11.95 to 4.15.39 victors.
Coach Tyler Blake was thrilled with the win noting the four quarter effort as influential in the victory.
"It was a pleasing win. It felt really good. For the first time all year we put in a four quarter effort. Everyone played their role and we got a good solid win," Blake said.
"We wanted to get back to enjoy playing together and enjoy our football as a young team. We used our strength and our run and we put it together on the day."
Brody Pope in the midfield was outstanding and the youngsters in Max Bunworth and Lachlan Hobbs played really well.
It was 17 year old Logan Millar, however, that Blake spoke about in detail.
"Logan played under 17's last year. He has played a handful of senior games this year and has spent the majority in the reserves."
"He was a good leading forward and used his strengths which is the ability to provide constant leads and take good grabs. We also used him through the middle to get the ball forward," he concluded.
For the Eagles, Dylan Watts and Kyle Cheney were excellent on the day with Joseph McKinnon kicking three goals.
The reserves were dominant in a 159 point win whilst the Under 17's and under 14's won by 72 and 60 points respectively.
At Davis Park, Nhill and Stawell fought out a one point thriller with the Warriors taking the points. The match was close throughout the day. Drew Schneider kicked a game high four goals for Nhill whilst Thomas Eckel, Kyan Mellor and Mitch Thorp all kicked two goals each for the Warriors.
At Alexandra Oval Ararat remain unbeaten with a 63 point win over the Southern Mallee Giants. The Giants held their own early giving it to Ararat, taking a three point lead into half time. Ararat then got on top and ran out 15.9.99 to 5.6.36 winners.
Tom Mills kicked a game high five goals for the Rats with Tom Williamson chipping in with four whilst for the Giants Jackson Fisher was their best player with two goals.
In the last match of the round Minyip Murtoa have kept their late season momentum going with a 29 point win over Dimboola.
It was a tight first half with only three goals scored but the Burras got on top in the second half winning 10.7.67 to 5.8.38.
Luke Chamberlain was best on ground whilst for Dimboola, Billy Hayes was their best.
