Dees host Swifts
After defeating ladder leaders Noradjuha Quantong last week, Laharum’s senior football side will look to continue their momentum as they host the Swifts.
While the Demons would be heavily favoured against a Swifts team yet to record a win, coach Robbie Miller said his side won’t go into the matchup complacent.
“We know firsthand that if you don't show up to play against anyone, then you can come stumpified pretty easily,” he said.
“We’ll need to be on our best game, and we're well aware that they'll have some damaging players, so we'll do a bit of homework this week.
“In saying that, we'll still be playing our brand of football, our game style and our game plan.
“We feel as though if we can execute that, as you can see from last weekend, that's a winning formula.”
Among the Swifts’ players to watch, players like Daniel Clee and coach Nigel Sibson have been impactful in the midfield and backs, respectively.
The Demons' coach said the team will adopt a next-player-up mentality with Harry Miller and Phil Butsch both out for this Saturday’s game.
“Harry is out after his concussion, and we will rest Phil Butsch, who is nursing a sore knee,” Miller said.
“We’ll draw on our list and reserves again, have the next solid up mentality, which seems to be the card we’ve been dealt in this early part of the season.
Asked about the team’s big win over the Bombers in round five, Miller said it is crucial for the team to start building week-to-week consistency.
“We used that loss to Kaniva as a real lesson, and probably the shake-up we needed,” he said.
“It’s good to get a win against one of the top sides in the league, but we don’t want to plateau and just be content and go back to bad habits.
“We want to continue playing great footy week-in week-out, so we’ll work hard on the track, work on the areas we need improvement in and hopefully keep the ball rolling.”
