Decades after rail loss, transport challenges remain
The consequences of discontinuing passenger rail services in the Wimmera continue to affect the region more than three decades later. Since the V/Line service ceased at Horsham railway station in 1992, residents across the Wimmera have continued to face public transport barriers.
A Melbourne-bound passenger train waits at Horsham Railway Station in 1981, before regular V/Line passenger services to the city ceased. Today, Horsham is served by The Overland between Adelaide and Melbourne, which stops at Horsham twice a week.
