Debra Nelson seeks to be returned as councillor in the Hindmarsh Shire East Ward

Dimboola has been my home for twenty years, and it has been a great honour to represent the interests and aspirations of the town and surrounding agricultural district community as a councillor for the past twelve years.

I have a few reasons for nominating for East Ward of Hindmarsh Shire Council.

Foremost, I am passionate about the wonderful community I live in.

I firmly believe that diversity, including gender, is not just important, but essential to best represent our community. I am committed to ensuring that all voices are heard and all perspectives are considered in the decisions that affect our community.

Furthermore, I have acquired a wealth of knowledge to fulfill the role since being elected initially in 2012.

As a councillor, I have participated in various councillor development and training opportunities to expand my knowledge and upskill so that I can best serve the East Ward at Council.

I believe continuity is important and that there is a role for me as an experienced councillor to support and mentor newly elected councillors.

If elected, I will continue to be accessible in the community and represent the interests of East Ward by advocating for continuous improvement to both the town's aesthetics and the district's infrastructure needs. I will also support tourism opportunities to build on economic benefits for businesses, further grow our town as a tourism destination, and highlight Dimboola as a desirable place to live.

Hindmarsh Shire has an excellent opportunity to further capitalise on tourism and visitors to our towns by promoting our outstanding natural assets and unique back to nature experiences.

Continuing to build on upgrading infrastructure and beautification of our towns together with supporting local businesses, events, and volunteers of community groups will create vibrancy and improve the liveability of our towns and their appeal as a tourism destination.
