I would like to see our Council work together with community members, families, businesses and groups to support a connected community environment, creating a safe, livable and vibrant municipality for all local residents.
I feel like I am well-known by a lot of locals, and I would like to think that the people that do know me consider me engaging, honest, thoughtful and a good mate.
As a proud father, partner, and family man and an active part of our community, I will advocate for greater access to family-friendly recreation and social inclusion opportunities for our local residents.
I will offer a fresh approach to the representation of our community, supporting opportunities for greater economical and capital growth for Horsham and surrounds. Something I would be very excited to do on behalf of my community, if given that opportunity.
At 53 years old, I have lived and worked in our local region for the majority of my life. I am very fortunate to have worked in the community development and services sector for many years, predominantly in leadership roles. I love serving people in the community and have done this professionally, for most of my life. I have enjoyed a variety of management roles within our local community with Uniting Victoria and Grampians Community Health, and for the last ten years, I have held an Executive management role with Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Co-Operative.
I have continued to study throughout my career, holding 3 separate diplomas in Community Services Management.
I have also had time away from Horsham and surrounds, pursuing personal and professional goals in the West Melbourne region.
I found myself in community engagement management roles within two very different city councils. Firstly, working for Melton City Council, coordinating the Transport Connections program and then moving over to Maribyrnong City Council, where I was centre facilitator at the Braybrook Community HUB. All this experience has given me an applied knowledge of strategic and social well-being plans in both, government and non-government settings.
I believe the skills and knowledge that I have gained over these years will serve me well in representing the needs of our community, exercising confident governance and providing leadership through informed decision-making.
