Criminal incidents drop in Horsham despite statewide rise
While crime continues to rise across Victoria, Horsham has bucked the trend - something police say reflects strong local policing and community cooperation.
Total criminal incidents in Horsham were down three per cent in 2025.
According to the latest Crime Statistics figures, there were 1752 criminal incidents in 2025, compared to 1807 the previous year.
Superintendent Dan Davison, Divisional Commander, said, "At a time when crime continues to increase across Victoria, it is pleasing to see offending in Horsham reduce."
“The figures reflect the hard work of our officers – from general duties, to detectives, to Highway Patrol – who work tirelessly every day to keep the community safe," Supt Davison said.
Charges were laid in just over half of these incidents, while no charges were laid in 24.1 per cent, and 28.4 per cent remain unsolved.
Crime most often happened at houses, with 565 incidents recorded.
Next most often was on a footpath/lane/street, with 238 crime incidents.
The leading offence for criminal incidents was breach of a family violence order, of which there were 208 reports, while criminal damage was also prevalent, with 198 incidents recorded.
“The most common crime we see is family violence order breaches, which is also one of the fastest growing crimes across the state," Supt Davison said.
“That’s largely due to technology and social media making it easier for perpetrators to target victims remotely.
“Rest assured, family violence detectives work day and night to target perpetrators and bring them before the courts.
“As always, if you see something, please say something.
“We are only as good as the information that comes from our community.”
Offences recorded across Horsham were also down in 2025.
In 2025, 2526 offences were recorded, down from 2575 in 2024.
More than half (54.4 per cent) of these offences resulted in arrest or summons, while 22.5 per cent remain unsolved.
