Country Kitchen brings that home cooking feel to the Horsham community
Food is 'made with love' at County Kitchen's new Horsham location.
The newest addition to Horsham's hospitality industry is bringing a touch of home cooking to town as Country Kitchen Horsham opens up on Wilson Street.
Naomi Frawley, chef, co-owner and director, wanted to bring back the memories of grandmother's cooking.
"It's based about home cooking, real feel good food, comfort food," she said.
"Everything is homemade, nothing is brought from a factory, [it's like] something that you get from your nana's kitchen."
Ms Frawley said Country Kitchen is special because everything is 'made with love'.
"I got my inspiration from growing up in my childhood on my grandparents farm with the slow combustion stove," she said.
"You think about all of that lovely food that you would get in it, whether it be like a really slow roast, a pot roast that would just fall apart, you'd walk into their kitchen and that's all you would smell.
"It's that sort of feel that has brought me to do this today, and I think it's something that people really like."
Country Kitchen Horsham has been set up as an expansion to the business already running successfully in Ballarat.
Ms Frawley said the decision to venture out to Horsham follows where a lot of customers in the Ballarat shop were coming from.
"In Ballarat, it was something that everyone loved, we actually had a lot of people come from up this way saying I wish we had something like this in Horsham," she said.
When the building at 58 Wilson Street came up, Ms Frawley and her business partner decided to take the opportunity to 'give it a try'.
The response the take-away restaurant has received from the community after only one week of operation has been 'amazing', she said.
"We have been overwhelmed, it's gone beyond our expectations," said Ms Frawley.
"We're excited to be in the Horsham community and be bringing something to the community that feels like it is needed."
Ms Frawley's started her first business Good 4 U meals, during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she prepares ready-made meals for delivery to customers door steps.
When that business started to grow, it needed more space to produce the food, so Ms Frawley and her business partner purchased Ballarat's Country Casseroles, and rebranded it to Country Kitchen.
"It's just grown from there," said Ms Frawley.
Ms Frawley said Good 4 U Meals and Country Kitchen is now producing about 800 meals per week.
