Council brings more services to town
Yarriambiack Shire Council's have added to their fleet of outreach vehicles in a bid to best serve its rural communities following the success of their Words on Wheels program.
Warracknabeal Library will adopt new operating hours from Monday July 15, increasing the number of self-service hours from 42 to 48 hours per week.
Patrons of the library will be able to check out items and collect their holds through the self-service kiosk, and access library spaces, and staffed hours will remain at 3.5 days a week, focusing on peak times, to provide direct support when needed most.
The change will allow resources to be redirected to the new mobile Council Engagement Service, which will deliver council services directly to residents in outlying areas.
This will span accessing community feedback documents and forms, responding to general enquiries, providing information brochures, assisting with community-strengthening activities, and delivering digital services such as ebooks and digital literacy learning opportunities.
The Council Engagement Service van will operate on a rotating schedule, visiting different communities each week as part of a six months trial to enable council to evaluate its effectiveness and gather community feedback.
Words on Wheels will continue to operate throughout the visits.
