Community cheer as strangers share food and fellowship on Christmas Day
Horsham Uniting Church's annual community Christmas lunch a hit.
Christmas cheer filled the air at Horsham Uniting Church, where strangers became friends over a shared meal and heartfelt conversation at the annual community lunch.
Organiser Mandy Kirsopp said strangers became friends on December 25 for the 18th iteration of the lunch.
"The lunch is designed for people to come together on Christmas day who would otherwise be home alone," she said.
"This year, 170 people shared the lunch, including travellers, couples, parents and children.
"The dining room was full and the carpeted area of the church foyer became part of the dining room."
Mrs Kirsopp said the room was a lively hub of laughter and conversation, where guests bonded over plates and festive cheer.
"Everyone shared a traditional roast meal of chicken, ham and veggies, plum pudding, pav and fruit salad, and of course, there was a visit from Santa," she said.
"Thanks to the Horsham Uniting Church community and the broader Horsham community who helped make the day possible for the joy of so many people.
"A special thanks also to the volunteers who shared Christmas day with others to create such a wonderful community event."
