College's big move

It has been many years in the making, but the second stage of the $20 million Education Precinct, bringing the Warracknabeal Primary School, Secondary College and the Special Developmental School onto the one site, is nearly complete.
Teachers and parents of the last school entity to leave their old site and move into the new buildings - Warracknabeal Secondary College - were hard at work making the massive move over the Easter school holidays and were still at it yesterday.
Yarriambiack Shire mayor Kylie Zanker has been a part of the College's community since 2007, and said having the end in sight was a dream come true.
"Our community advocated for countless years for funding, and now the building is complete we can proudly say that our students have state of the art buildings and facilities to learn in," she said.
"Our students have the opportunity to learn in amazing facilities with dedicated and engaging teachers - our dream of an education precinct that meets the needs of students now and well into the future has come to life."
Unfortunately, the new lockers for the students hadn’t arrived and the WSC members had to move the old lockers to the new site in preparation for the students' Term Two arrival on Wednesday morning.
Tomorrow will be the first time all the schools will operate together from the new site, with a combined all-schools assembly marking Warracknabeal's new educational era.
"As a mayor, parent and community member, to see the new school be funded and built to completion is amazing," Cr Zanker said.
"To see the transformation during its building stages has been sensational.
From the early stages in 2018, with stage one unfolding, and now the finished stages in 2023. It is definitely an exciting milestone for the students, teaching and support staff and our wider community.
